Beautiful antique medal both of devotion and of history. At the effigy of Our Lady of Mondovi, Italy. Probably for the crowning of the Miraculous Virgin in 1682. Venerated in the Cistercian monastery of Vicoforte, She is named Regina Montis Regalis. On the reverse side is Saint Bernard of Clairvaux (1090-1153), abbot, and reformer of the Cistercian order. He preached for immediate faith with as model Jesus Christ, with as intercessor Holy Virgin Mary. Our Lady of Mondivo was crowned in 1682. Probably this medal was minted on that occasion. Rare antique medal.
