Gorgeous antique art medal designed by Belgian sculptor Oscar Sinia (1877-1956). This artist is known for his religious statues. He designed this medal on order from the city of Ghent to celebrate the 600th anniversary of the St. George guild. Wich was founded in 1314 to protect the city walls with cross-bows. This anniversary was delayed due to the outbreak of the world war and celebrated in 1930 when Oscar Sinia designed the medal. It was reminted later on, for celebrations and contests within the St. George guild. Such as this medal. Designed in 1930, minted in 1975. Gorgeous decors of Saint George with the dragon.
