This is a rare and authentic ex-ossibus reliquary of Saint Apollonia, an early Christian martyr and the patron saint of dentistry and those suffering from dental diseases. Encased within a simple but elegant brass reliquary, this sacred artifact contains a small bone fragment, believed to be a relic of Saint Apollonia, who was martyred in the 3rd century. The relic is meticulously presented on a golden silk background, with a star-shaped paper embellishment that highlights the relic fragment in the center. The inscription on the intricately hand-cut paper scroll reads “S. Apollonia V.M.” (Sancta Apollonia Virgin Martyr), identifying the saint.
